Here at SHIFT, we are too young to appreciate what many would say was the ‘golden era’ for Formula One: Cosworth DFV engines, big wings, intakes and an air of daring around the paddock, when racing was all about the wheel-to-wheel action than the drama, politics and red tape that plagues the current era of F1.

Not only were spectators treated to a spectacular array of historic Formula One cars, but also a plethora of vintage and historic racing machinery, from the likes of LMP prototypes, 60s, 70s and 80s GT and Sports cars, and modern classic legends from the 00s.

Whilst technically billed as a testing day for those in the Masters Historic Racing championships, each of the three ‘testing’ grids was well-subscribed, with an open pit lane being run throughout the session meaning that there was never a shortage of interest on-track.

We took the trip up to Donington Park in March to see the action for ourselves, so please enjoy the following gallery of images from the 19 March 2024 Masters Historic Test Day.
