FlatSix Show 2022

Launching a new show for the first time at the hallowed grounds of Goodwood Motor Circuit is a brave move, but for FlatSix, it is one that certainly paid off.

Backed by Porsche themselves, along with the team from the famous Players Shows, Renneleven and more, FlatSix celebrates all things Porsche, from early air-cooled 911s and 912s up to the latest and greatest 992-generation cars, and everything in-between.

Alongside the usual contingent of 911s of all generations, there were also plenty of representatives from Porsches transaxle era, along with not one but TWO legendary 959s, and a number of high-quality restomods and back-date cars, including one from the well-known US tuning house Guntherworks, which took pride-of-place in front of the Goodwood paddock buildings.

As with anything that Porsche and the Players Shows team get involved with, the quality of cars on display was simply fantastic, catering to all Porsche tastes and interests, sprawling across both sides of the track, and even on-track too, with a Porsche track day being run simultaneously along with the static show.

All-in-all, we think it’s fair to say that the team behind FlatSix certainly put on a show to be proud of, and one that we’re sure will become a firm fixture for any enthusiasts on the show calendar. With a debut show that’s as good as this, it’ll be interesting to see how they better it for next year’s event…

The sun was shining, the flags were out and a brace of the best air and water-cooled Porsches descended on the hallowed grounds of Goodwood Motor Circuit, with two main show areas either side of the track.

The backdrop of the Porsche garage, old hangars and workshops made for an excellent setting for the general show’n’shine area, featuring everything from the iconic 996 C4S to modern-day GT models and classic air-cooled Turbos and Carreras.

Porsche GB also brought out the ‘big guns’ to support the inaugural FlatSix event, utilising their own heritage fleet and their brace of contacts to bring out the likes of this iconic 959, one of two at the event.

The backdrop of the iconic GRRC garages was the perfect setting for this 964; Surely one of the best-looking of the air-cooled 911s?

Speaking of air-cooled 911s, we loved this evidently well-used and much-loved wide-body example sat across the circuit…

Rally-spec and race-spec cars will always be cool in our eyes, and this wonderful example of the former only proved to strengthen our argument… Check out that ride height, the roof rack and the critical under-tray!

Peridot Green never fails to impress, and looks fantastic on this GT4. Unusually, we’d even keep the black wheels!

Porsche’s own Mr Milestone brought along his ‘stanced’ 964 sitting on Rotiforms, which is always a pleasure to see.

Rare delights were plentiful at FlatSix 2022, though this unusual Zeemax Turbo-based creation drew plenty of attention in the main show’n’shine area…

911s, Boxsters and Caymans of all eras and models took to the track throughout the day, providing attendees with plenty of dynamic entertainment to match the excellent standard of static displays.

Naturally, the pit lane played host to plenty of GT models…

…As well as plenty of Porsche’s ‘greatest hits’ back catalogue, such as this wonderful 996 C4S.

There was even some on-track air-cooled action also, such as this gorgeous 356.

Porsche’s mid-engined cars were also well-represented, with this Wavetrac-equipped 987c reminding everyone just how good the OG Cayman still is.

“Give me Goodwood on a summer's day, and you can keep the rest” certainly rang true on the day of the first FlatSix show…

All in all, the debut FlatSix show looked to be a roaring success, and with some more surprises in store for next year (which I’m not allowed to publicly reveal yet) it looks like the 2023 event will be a must-attend for any Porsche enthusiasts. We can’t wait!
